The Brief
Okpako & Company is a Nigerian forensic accounting and financial consulting firm established in 1992. For more than three decades, the firm has helped organisations identify and recover money lost through excessive bank charges, fraudulent entries, interest shortfalls, unexplained deductions and other questionable transactions.
Its work is evidence-based and informed by Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines. The firm also provides debt analysis, settlement support, financial advisory, data analysis and expert-witness services.
One of its strongest commercial advantages is its performance-based fee structure: clients pay when successful recoveries are made. This reduces the financial risk associated with initiating a forensic review.
BendingWaters was engaged to develop a website that could explain this specialised service, establish trust and motivate qualified organisations to request a preliminary review.
The Pain
Many organisations are losing money without knowing it.
The losses may not appear as one dramatic transaction. They can accumulate quietly through repeated charges, incorrect interest calculations, FX commissions, unexplained debits and discrepancies buried inside years of banking activity.
Because these transactions appear within technical financial records, organisations may assume they are legitimate. Even finance teams can miss irregularities when managing several bank accounts, loans, facilities and high transaction volumes.
The emotional tension is significant. A managing director or CFO may suspect that something is wrong but feel reluctant to challenge a bank. They may fear damaging an important relationship, exposing confidential information or beginning a complicated process without a guaranteed outcome.
Okpako & Company could resolve these concerns, but its website needed to communicate the service with exceptional clarity. Forensic accounting is technical, and technical ambiguity can create hesitation. If prospective clients did not quickly understand the process, confidentiality safeguards and performance-based arrangement, they would postpone action.
The firm also competed indirectly with major consulting brands whose names automatically signalled credibility. Okpako & Company therefore needed a digital presence that reflected its experience, professionalism and specialised recovery expertise.
The commercial challenge was not simply awareness. It was overcoming disbelief. Prospects had to accept the possibility that recoverable money could be hidden inside transactions they had already reviewed or considered settled.
The Solution
BendingWaters developed the Okpako & Company website around three psychological requirements: credibility, clarity and reduced risk.
The website first established the firm’s history and specialisation. Its decades of experience, professional team and knowledge of Nigeria’s financial regulatory environment were positioned as evidence that the company understood both the numbers and the recovery process.
We then translated the service into plain commercial language. Instead of overwhelming visitors with forensic terminology, the website explained the kinds of discrepancies the firm investigates, the organisations most likely to benefit and the documents required to begin.
This allowed decision-makers to recognise themselves in the problem. A company with multiple accounts, overdrafts, FX transactions or substantial banking activity could quickly understand why a review might be relevant.
The performance-based model became a central trust mechanism. It addressed the prospect’s most immediate objection: “What if we spend more money and recover nothing?” By clarifying that the firm assumes much of the operational risk, the website reduced the psychological cost of taking the first step.
Confidentiality and professional engagement were also emphasised. The tone avoided aggression toward financial institutions. Okpako & Company was positioned as an evidence-led advocate capable of pursuing recovery without unnecessarily disrupting the client’s banking relationships.
The user journey culminated in straightforward actions such as requesting a preliminary review or booking a consultation. This was important because a persuasive website must not leave an interested visitor wondering what to do next.
BendingWaters transformed a technically complex service into a compelling business proposition: money may be leaving your organisation unnoticed, and investigating it does not have to expose you to unnecessary risk.
The resulting website gave Okpako & Company a stronger platform for reaching senior executives, finance leaders, auditors and public-sector decision-makers.
It communicated the firm’s value in a way that touched both commercial logic and emotional responsibility. For a financial leader, recovering lost revenue is not merely an accounting victory. It is evidence of vigilance, stewardship and the willingness to protect the organisation’s resources.
